Buddymatic is a great theme.

I have a simple question:

It seems that the theme may not work on WordPress 2.9.2 (not MU) and Buddymatic 1.2.1 combination. Otherwise, I might not configure the theme properly.

Reason:

I do not see the top menu for HOME, MEMBER, GROUP, FORUM.

I appreciate greatly, if you can drop few lines to explain.

Any browser compatibility issues should probably go to the original designer. On the buddypress portions, we drop in the exisiting BP styles. in the case of the rounded corners - they are done via the moz-webkit in the css, which (last I checked) IE didn't support. I haven't explored much further, but you can use IETester/DebugBar or browsershots.com and check for other IE compatibility issues.
